Bob’s Business is incredibly lucky to have four different students working at Bob’s Business over the month of August where they get a chance to gain work experience in the Cyber Security Field. Ben Methley was here for two weeks, this is his experience.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work at Bob’s Business for two weeks during my summer holiday. I was unsure what to expect at first due to the nature of the business, but when I left I found out that there are a lot of diverse roles scattered around the company.
I spent the two weeks helping to review and fix modules by working with the customer service and creative teams which allowed me to develop analytical skills because I had to keep a close eye on every detail.
I was able to use the skills I learned at school in my IT lessons while I was working here. I was using spreadsheets to document errors and issues and I was able to use LearnUpon to help fix portals for clients.
I really enjoyed coming up with creative ideas with the creative team for a design they were developing for a client. I also enjoyed coming up with Olympic based graphic ideas for the marketing team to help push cyber security messages.
What I enjoyed most about Bob’s Business was working with the team in the office, it was not like what I was expecting. Everyone was really friendly and they didn’t treat me as I was just work experience. They made me feel welcome in the office.
I’m happy to have spent two weeks with Bob’s Business as I got to understand what it would be like working in an office environment, plus I feel like I learned a lot in the process.
