Think Before You Click won an OSPAs Award!

Fri 3rd Mar 2017

Think Before You Click won Oustanding Security Training Initiative at the OSPAs 2017

In partnership with HMRC, Bob’s Business has won an Outstanding Security Performance Award for 'Outstanding Security Training Initiative'.

Announced on Thursday evening at Marriott Grosvenor Square in London, Bob’s Business and HMRC fought off competition from the likes of William Hill and Kier Group in the field to win the award.

Think Before You Click trains end-users to spot malicious emails within their inbox. This is done through a series of phishing templates that were designed to simulate phishing emails that employees may spot in their emails, an educational module and a second assessment aimed to see if the training has changed the behaviour of the user.

Managing Director, Melanie Oldham said, “I’m so proud that our simulated phishing campaign has been recognised with such a prestigious security award.

“The aim of Think Before You Click was to make it an educational training initiative, not a box ticking exercise as the biggest issue in cyber security is the human factor.

“Standard phishing simulations just look for stats and don’t look to solve the problem, Think Before You Click is all about creating long lasting behavioural change.”

The Oustanding Security Training Initiative award recognises individuals or companies that operate a successful training scheme, which promotes outstanding performance and has produced identifiable results.

Think Before You Click, through its educational spin on phishing simulations, has a proven track record for dramatically dropping click rates and this was acknowledged by the OSPAs on Thursday night.

We are nominated for two OSPA awards

Mon 23rd Jan 2017

Bob's Business is nominated for two OSPAs awards

HM Revenue & Customs’ collaboration with Bob’s Business, a cyber security awareness training provider, has been nominated in this year’s Outstanding Security Performance Awards UK (OSPAs).

Bob’s Business and HM Revenue & Customs has been nominated in the category of ‘Outstanding Security Training Initiative’ and 'Outstanding Cyber Security Initiative' in an awards ceremony that is both independent and inclusive.

The Yorkshire-based organisation created an innovative phishing simulation product under the name of Think Before You Click® in which end-users are trained to spot malicious emails within their inbox.

This was done through a series of phishing templates that were designed to simulate phishing emails that employees may spot in their emails.

Instead of punishing employees for opening the false emails and clicking on the links inside, Think Before You Click® educates the user by pointing out the mistakes they make before suggesting them to take an educational course designed to mitigate the mistakes made previously.

Owner and Managing Director of Bob’s Business, Melanie Oldham, said, “It’s an honour to be nominated for the Outstanding Security Performance Awards this year.

“The campaign has proved to be a success as with each phase that was rolled out to the staff, the numbers showed that users internalise the training.”

The Outstanding Security Performance Awards acknowledge exemplary products in the security industry from around the globe, recognising and promoting the work of individuals and organisations who achieve excellence. An opportunity to bring together security personnel and associations across a country and also, in future, provide a focal point for the security sector worldwide.

Melanie Oldham added, “The OSPAs global outlook makes being nominated extra special as it shows the strength of the service we are providing.

“We are immensely proud of the work we have done with HM Revenue & Customs in providing an educational and proactive phishing simulation assessment that has shown proven results and a reduction of potential phishing breaches.”

The Outstanding Security Performance Awards are hosted on the 2nd March at London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

Bob’s Business gains new government accreditations

Mon 8th Aug 2016

We are excited to announce that Bob's Business has been accredited by Cyber Essentials and IASME after completing the self-assessment.

These new accreditations demonstrates that we possesses the required barriers in place to successfully stop the majority of cyber attacks that could possibly target the organisation.

Melanie Oldham, managing director of Bob’s Business, said; “Following on from our IISP and ISO/27001 accreditations that we have achieved in the past 18 months, it is fantastic that we have gained another industry standard which allows the business to position itself as a security leader.

“Considering Bob’s Business provides modules based on cyber security, it is important that we can be seen as an organisation that practices what it preaches, which gaining the IASME and Cyber Essentials accreditations gives us.”

Cyber Essentials is a government scheme which focuses on the five most important technical security controls that were identified by the government as those that if in place would stop the majority of cyber attacks over the past few years.

IASME is a governance standard based on international best practice revolving around aspects such as physical security, staff awareness and data back up, all of which are core messages found in Bob’s Business’ learning modules.

Bob’s Business is now an official supplier of G-cloud 8

Fri 5th Aug 2016

We are incredibly excited to announce that Bob’s Business is now an accredited G-Cloud 8 supplier certifying us as a secure supplier for the public sector.

After weeks of hard work, we have gained a legal compilable framework which is recognised by government authorities, making it much easier to attract business from the public sector.

Our managing director, Melanie Oldham said; “G-Cloud 8 provides us with the opportunities to compete with the large organisations when it comes to government contracts.

“We have already proved we can work with government organisations as our largest client is in the public sector, so any opportunities we can take to expand further in governmental services we are going to jump at the chance.”

G-Cloud was launched to break up the monopoly big IT businesses had when it came to government contracts, with the latest projection target being to make sure that 50% of all government contracts are assigned to SMEs or medium-sized businesses.

With the inclusion of SMEs and medium-sized businesses, the government allows for IT industries to expand outside the capital as businesses who would normally be at the back of the queue for government contracts are pushed forward allowing for a more level playfield for the organisations that do not have to big budgets to spend.

Melanie added; “It can only be a positive to see the SMEs and medium-sized businesses battling for local authority contracts on a level playfield because it means that the quality of the product succeeds over the name of the brand.

“It will inevitably provide a boost to the industry allowing for more investment in staff to narrow the skill shortage within the IT sector.”

Visit our the G-Cloud 8 digital marketplace to read about and purchase all of our services.

Bob gets IISP Accredited!

We have gained IISP Accreditation on our modules!

“The Institute is an independent not-for-profit body, ensuring standards of professionalism - for training, qualifications, operating practices and individuals. Unlike most other certifications available today, the IISP does not just accredit on learned knowledge alone. Instead, they require professionals to evidence that they have successfully performed the required skills in the real world and have a track record of delivering to the highest standards. The IISP is therefore viewed as the gold standard for information security professionals.”

We are very happy to receive this accreditation, more proof of our commitment to professional education- Something we are very proud of!

Bob’s Business partners with Gooseberry Planet to protect children against online dangers.

Bob has recently joined forces with Gooseberry Planet, a new and unique app which teaches children online safety through gamification. We feel this move to take on the growing gap in online safety for young people is a great advancement in our dedication to digital and online safety for organisations and employees both in the workplace and at home.

Gooseberry Planet is a unique, new app to teach children online safety through gamification. Founded in 2014 by a mother in response to online safety for children becoming such a huge issue, with children’s internet access starting at increasingly early ages and mobile usage of social media and web services by young people continuing to rise.

Our partnership with Gooseberry planet means that we can now offer this online safety game to clients to use with families. Not only will this aid Corporate Social Responsibility, but it will widen the whole family's understanding of cyber security, through developing security conscious children and parents. This product comprises of a children’s gaming app and a parental app to oversee the learning, furthering our commitment to ensuring safety both in the workplace and at home, and also allowing Gooseberry Planet to branch out of schools to help even more children to become safer online.

Stella James, Managing Director of Gooseberry Planet commented:
“Bullying, sexting, grooming and many other dangers are rife on the internet but worryingly many parents are still not in tune with the current dangers or how to best protect family and friends. Our partnership with Bob’s Business enables us to reach out with our engaging and unique app that teaches children online safety through gamification; and will help many more families learn how to remain safe when online. Parents cannot always be looking over their children’s shoulders and it’s not just about monitoring what they do; rather helping the kids learn in an interactive way how to identify and so avoid the dangers themselves.”

More information on this new service can be found here

We’re partnering with Friendly WiFi scheme to protect against cybercrime!

Bob’s Business have recently joined forces with Friendly WiFi, a Government initiated scheme supporting protecting young people whilst using public WiFi. We have partnered up following our joint vision to provide a safe online environment and our commitment to reducing the effects of cyber crime.

Friendly WiFi have chosen to partner with us because of our innovative approach to training and changing behaviours. The initiative is supported by Government and the UK’s leading WiFi providers after concerns were raised by leading child safety experts, that children and young people were being put at risk of viewing and accessing inappropriate material when using public WiFi. Friendly WiFi has been created to ensure that businesses who offer their customers public WiFi and who wish to join the scheme to become a ‘Friendly WiFi’ venue, have had their WiFi services verified by an independent body to verify that the correct filters are in place to block anyone from accessing inappropriate material.

Working in partnership will enable both of us to support our clients with innovative solutions focussed on online safety and data protection.
