NIS 2 (Network and Information Systems Directive 2) is an update to the original NIS Directive introduced by the European Union in 2016 to improve the cybersecurity and resilience of critical infrastructure and digital services across member states. The NIS 2 Directive was adopted in December 2020 and officially came into force in January 2023, with the deadline for rule implementation in October 2024.
